Yes, I’m jumping on the Polyvore bandwagon. If you haven’t already visited the site, it’s a place where you can build an outfit, including shoes and accessories, from scratch. They compile clothes and things from shops all over the internet. It’s a great way to put a look together. It sort of reminds me of the beginning of Clueless where Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is picking out her outfit with a computer.

Oh, technology!

I’ve decided to put together some outfits based on my Tuesday Tutorials makeup looks.

Today, it’s all about Sunrise Eyes. As you may recall, it was an ultra pretty look featuring colors of red, orange and yellow. Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes it’s really hard to think up a good name for one of these tutorials.

I chose ‘blueberry’ this time because of the colors of that fruit. On the outside, it is a purple blue color, and on the inside, it’s a lighter pink and red.

This makeup tutorial, Blueberry Eyes, keeps that color scheme. You’ll learn what products you can use, and how to apply the makeup in such a way as to replicate the end product. Fancy, right?

This tutorial is also a good example of how you can get great looks with inexpensive makeup.

Read on to learn how to do the Blueberry Eyes look through this makeup tutorial.

Tutorial Tuesday: Glacial Dust Makeup Tutorial

May 20th, 2008 by Trisha

I had two inspirations for today’s makeup tutorial. First, the inspiration for the name. If you’ve ever seen waters surrounding a glacier, you’ll know that it can be a really bright blue-green color. It’s amazing, like something you would see at the best ocean beaches in the world. At Glacier National Park in Montana, US, they have these waters. The water turns this color because of ‘glacial dust.’ This was the inspiration for the name of this look, as well as the general color scheme.

I also got inspiration for this look from Christine over at Temptalia. She uses MAC to get some amazing eye makeup looks, and lately she’s been doing makeup similar to what I’m going to do here.

The biggest difference is that I won’t be using MAC. Not that I don’t like it or anything. I just want to show that you can do very similar makeup techniques with many different makeup brands.

So, Read on to learn how to do this Glacial Dust makeup technique featuring blue and green shades of eye shadow. Read the rest of this entry »

Makeup Review: Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara

May 16th, 2008 by Trisha

The newest trend in mascara is the rubber/plastic wand. You see commercials for these all over TV, and even in full page ads in fashion magazines. It’s very brave of these companies to completely change the mascara applicator, especially when so many of us rely on what we already know.

So do these mascara applicators work? I can’t speak for all of them, but I do have an opinion on the one offered by Maybelline.

I tried the Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara in Very Black. You can find this in drug stores, department stores, and online. I picked it up for $7.99. How does it stack up?

Recently, BellaSugar had a post about makeup organization: What Is Your Makeup Organizing Method? They showed how they organize their makeup, and boy! They sure have a lot!

As I sit here eating a bagel with tofu cream cheese (tofu!), I was inspired by this, so I thought I’d show everyone my makeup setup.
