Before you throw on that perfect shade of red lipstick, you may want to think about how you’ll be perceived.
Although you may not have consciously realized, color has a lot to do with how we feel. When people see you wearing that red lipstick, red eye shadow, or even red nails, they will feel differently toward you. They will get an emotional reaction based on that color. Most of the time, they don’t even realize it.

I finally got my first MAC Cosmetics stash. First stash. I did have one item from MAC, but that doesn’t really count as a stash, now does it?
After purchasing a wealth of products during last week’s MAC sale, I finally got my makeup yesterday. I waited all day long and UPS finally showed up at 7PM. That’s pretty late!
But I finally got it and am oh-so-excited. I thought I would take a picture for everyone and tell you what I got. Here it is:

Soft Rust? Is that even possible? Well, yes, when it’s on your eyes.
Today, I’ll be teaching you how to get a beautiful rusty colored makeup look on your eyes, as well as a soft rust color on your lips. This look is going to be a bit more subtle than what you are expecting, I’m sure.
Where you wear this look depends on how comfortable you are with makeup on. I could wear this anywhere, including work and on a date. Those who aren’t used to a lot of makeup may want to limit this look only for special occasions.

To continue my series: An Outfit to Match, today I’m going to show you looks that go along with my Umber Eyes makeup tutorial.
The true essence of Umber Eyes is all about versatility. It uses browns and golds to make a nice smoldering look that is appropriate for the office.
Because of this, today’s outfit to match this look is something you can wear to work. Perfect for a board meeting, yet still as chic as can be.
First, let’s remember what Umber Eyes looked like:

There are certain activities in summer that can just ruin your makeup look if you don’t plan it right. There’s times when you get wet, like swimming at the beach or going to a water park. And there’s times when you sweat, like most summer activities out in the sun.
If you don’t want to end up looking like a raccoon, you’ll need to pick mascara that won’t run.
Here are the top 3 waterproof mascaras that will do well this summer:

Some of the looks I teach you guys are so out there, like the Rainbow Eyes tutorial, that you can’t wear them in most situations. To remedy that, I’m teaching you a look today that can be worn pretty much anywhere:
- To work.
- To school.
- On a date.
- To a family gathering.
- For a hike in the woods.
- During the day.
- At night.
- Even to a night club.
I call this look Simple and Clean because it has a freshness about it. You’ll look amazing while not having that much makeup on. At least it will seem that way anyway.
I actually got some of the idea for this look from the steps in the Vintage Pinup Girl Video, although I changed some things around.
Get ready, because we’re about to learn the Simple and Clean makeup tutorial.

UPDATE: This sale is now extended an extra day, so it ends Tuesday June 16, 2008 instead of today, Monday.
As you’ll recall, I was asking for help in choosing the right MAC makeup last week. Here’s why:
If you’re like me, you don’t live by a MAC Cosmetics store. Because of this, you’ll need to do your shopping online.
Luckily, there’s a sale today just for such an occasion! It’s called the Friends and Family Discount, which is 15% off on all online orders. This is just for today (6/16/08), though. So get your butts on over there. Things are already selling out!

Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot of my attention on liquid eyeliner. I’ve written posts about it and I’ve done some makeup looks featuring this kind of thing as well.
Since my favorite brand of liquid eyeliner (by Loreal) was all out, I had to use one of my backup liners: N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black. I wasn’t expecting it to be very good.
Want to know how it fared? Read on for the makeup review of the N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner.
