Ways to Rock Green Eye Shadow

Oh how I love color!  When we’re wearing makeup, we’re dealing with color (whether you like it or not. :) ) Earlier this week, I talked about the emotions you may induce when you wear green eye shadow and green nail polish.

But do you know how to wear green eye shadow?  Honestly, I don’t see a lot of people wearing it on a daily basis.  If I do, it’s usually me, in the mirror.

So, if you’re not sure what to do, you can get some inspiration from these tips.

Or maybe you wear green eye shadow, but you want new ways to rock the look.  Here are some super cute ways to totally rock green eye shadow.

  • Pair it with another color! Wearing green eye shadow doesn’t mean you need to do your whole look this way.  Check out the picture at the beginning of the post (which is from one of my tutorials.)  Here, I used both pink and green equally.  Lot’s of colors go with green, including yellow, blue and orange if you pick the right shades.
  • Add just a dash of green! Similar to the last tip, you may just want to add a dash of green eye shadow.  Let’s say you’re doing a mostly-blue eye shadow look.  You could add a smudge of a similarly toned green to the inside corner of your top eyelid.  That’d look pretty cute!
  • Soften up the green! A great way to do a green look without going overboard is to use soft, muted greens instead of the bright ones that some of us (i.e. me) use.  Try for a very light, pearlescent green.  It’ll be subtle, but still totally adorable.
  • Choose a an autumn green! A good way to use green is to pick a darker green.  This is especially good for autumn and winter when you’re choosing muted stuff.  Forest greens are good and they go well with browns and tans.
  • Go all out! To borrow and mash up a quote from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, “wear it, it will make you brave.”  So you aren’t good with bright bold makeup looks?  So what?  Do it anyway!  Wear that crazy bright green eye shadow.  You’ll probably end up looking a lot cuter than you thought.

There you go!  Some good tips for rocking green eye shadow, even if you are scared or not used to the color.

Honestly, makeup can just wash off (unlike that ill-thought-out tattoo on your back) so why not try things you’re not used to?  That’s how I end up with so many cute looks.  Trial and error, babes.

How do you wear your green eye shadow?  The whole eye?  With other colors?  Bright? Muted?
