It’s August 11th and summer is almost over.  How depressing is that?  But you don’t have to sulk off.  Enjoy the rest of it!

Here are some ways that you can totally rock the rest of the summer.

1. Go for a quick road trip! Even if it’s just to an attraction right out of town, making that extra bit of effort will make the occasion feel even more special.  What can you do?  Lot’s of stuff!  Hike, bike, look at birds, stick your feet in a cold, fast-moving river.  You’ll think of something.
2. Make a summer mix CD! Whether it’s for your road trip, or just something to listen to when you’re on the way to the grocery store, a summer mix cd can really get you in the mood.  Try “In the Summertime” by Shaggy or “Summer Nights” from the Grease movie soundtrack.
3. Get in the spirit with some shimmer lotion! Lotion with a touch of shimmer can put anyone in a sunny mood.  Try to find one that smells like summer too, like Luzier’s Wiki Wiki Shimmer.  It’s got a light shimmer with a nice piña colada scent.
4. Plant some late summer flowers! Flowers are amazing all year ‘round, but not all of them can survive the weather.  To keep the rest of your summer beautiful, hunker down and plants some flowers.  Black-Eyed Susans and Dahlias are perfect for this time of year.  Don’t have an outdoor garden?  Plant them indoors!
5. Be spontaneous and brave! If you normally decline when friends ask you to come along for an adventure, go ahead and do it.  While things like rock climbing can be scary, you only live once.  You might as well spend it having fun.  And if it isn’t fun, well, at least you tried.

If you’re like me, you don’t want the summer to end.  (Although, the smell of dead leaves in autumn is pretty nice.)

Make sure that you end this summer with a BANG.
