Where I’ve Been – Brain Surgeries
You may have noticed a slight lack in content in the last week or so. Sure, there have been some reviews, but I wrote those ahead of time.
Here’s what’s been up with me:
The Planned
About a month or so ago, we all found out that my brother, Shawn, had a brain tumor. A big one. About the size of a golf ball. I’m originally from Minnesota, but live in Montana. My mom and I drove back to Minnesota last week to be with my brother during his surgery.
The surgery was Friday and it went perfectly. It was a good kind of non-cancerous tumor and we’re all very pleased. My brother is still in the hospital, and I’ve been spending most of my time there. He probably won’t be home for Thanksgiving.
We’re just happy that it all worked out so well.
The UN-Planned
My dad, who I hadn’t seen in 8 years, came with for my brother’s surgery day. He sat with us in the waiting room to await the results.
Around the time that we heard that they were done and sewing up my brother, my dad had a seizure right in the waiting room. Seeing that happen was probably the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me. And I was in some kind of shock for the rest of the night. Not only did it traumatize me, it seemed to traumatize all the strangers who were in the waiting room to see it happen.
Long story short, he fell, hit his head, had bleeding in his brain, and needed two emergency brain surgeries. So both my brother and my dad had brain surgery on the same day, one planned and one unplanned.
It was a very weird situation, and we’ve been the talk of the hospital. While my brother’s situation went awesome, my dad’s has been critical. Brain damage. We don’t know how serious things will be yet.

So, that’s why I haven’t been writing much about beauty lately. On a beauty note, I did go see my grandma yesterday and raided her Luzier makeup stash. Lots of new lipsticks and eye shadows for free.
But otherwise, I’ve just been too busy, as I’m sure you’ll all understand.

Aah thats scary! I hope everything is ok.
Thanks, Lydia. It WAS scary. My brother is home now and recovering well from the surgery. Things with my dad aren’t as good and may come to a grim end. We’re all just holding it together here.
