Razors! We all use them (well, most of us), but we rarely talk about it.  Smooth legs, underarms and nether regions are about beauty, too!

If you’re like me, you found one good brand/type of razors and you stuck to it for years.  For me, it was Schick.  I’d get the big budget pack with the turquoise handles.  Turquoise, not pink.  they’re somehow better.

Then I decided to try the Gillette Venus Embrace.  Sure, it doesn’t come in a value pack, but why not?

Let’s see how this stacks up:

How’s the price?

The Gillette Venus Embrace goes for $13.99 suggested retail, although you can sometimes find it for a few dollars cheaper if it’s on sale.  That price includes one razor with blade, and one extra replacement blade.  It also comes with a little egg shaped carrying thing that you can stick up on your shower wall (not permanently, so no worries).

For extra blades, you can pay up to $27.49 for a pack of 8.  I don’t know about you, but that’s a little steep for my blood, especially with the current economy.  Then again, these razor blades last a bit longer than the bulk pack razor blades I’m used to.

How well does it work?

The most important thing about a razor is how well it works.  If it can’t get you de-haired, then what’s the point?

All in all, this razor worked well.  As I used it, it didn’t feel like it was cutting my hair.  But then I felt down and, sure enough, I was hairless.  I attribute this to the whopping 5 blades.  It also comes with a very good moisture strip so you don’t have to keep lathering.

The only problem with this is that it is really easy to cut yourself and not even realize.  I walked away bleeding in a few spots with no memory of how it happened.

The shaving experience was great, though.  It seemed a lot easier than with other razors.  A much more pleasurable experience.

The Final Verdict

Should you get it?  Sure.  If you’re doing just fine throughout the economic crisis and can afford a fancy razor, by all means.  It really is a good razor and worth the price if you can afford it.  Just be sure to watch out for any mysterious cuts.  It’ll happen.
