Makeup Review: Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in Vintage Lace

Normally when I review eye shadow, it’s a comment on multiple shades rather than a single color. Today, I’m mixing it up a little.

I’ve recently tried Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in Vintage Lace, a very light beige color. No sparkles or glitter here, it’s just pure matte color.

To see how it looks in a full makeup look, check out my most recent face of the day, Preen. I used Vintage Lace on the inner 1/3 of my top lid and just under my brow.

How does it work?

As you might expect with an eye shadow this shade, it’s a bit chalky. It’s also not as pigmented as you would expect. It takes a lot of application to get the shade I’m looking for.

Still, it goes on very silkily and smoothly. It’s a very fine pressed powder.

How does it look?

It’s important to have an eye shadow that is just a shade or two lighter than your skin color because you can create all sorts of looks with it. Well, Vintage Lace is that shade for me. It provides a slight highlight to some looks and it blends well with other colors.

The Final Verdict

Though it wouldn’t work well as a stand-alone shadow color, Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in Vintage Lace works best for blending other colors and for highlighting at the inside corner of your eye. If you’re looking for a shadow that’s a few shades lighter than your skin, this is a good choice for people with light and medium skin. Yes, you’ll need to layer it on and deal with the chalky aftermath, but it’s still a good shade. I give it a…
