Makeup or Outfit First?
It’s amazing how different people have their own order for doing things when it comes to makeup, beauty and fashion.
When I started the Outfit to Match series, I tailored it to people who have a makeup look and are looking for an outfit to go with it. But how often is it the other way around?
Answer me this…
Do you pick out your outfit first and make your makeup match, or the other way around?
Most of the time, I pick out an outfit first and then develop a makeup look to match. Sometimes though, I’ll think of some crazy makeup look and then scour my closet for an outfit that would go with it.
Still, most of the time it’s:
- Select Outfit
- Apply Makeup to Go With Said Outfit

I love matching my makeup to my outfit, it’s fun! Usually, I apply makeup first and then decide what to wear based on what eyeshadows shades I used in my look.

Gio, that’s definitely something I do when I get inspired by other bloggers (you included) or from YouTube vidoes. I scramble for an outfit that will do the makeup look some justice.
I pick out my outfit and match/coordinate my makeup accordingly. I never really match a teal shirt with teal eyeshadow or anything like that, but I just make sure it “goes”, if that makes any sense. hahaha
