So begins another day of the 10 Days to Ultimate Beauty!

On Day 1, you cleared out your makeup case, getting rid of any items you didn’t like or that were expired, broken or empty. After that assignment, you may have ended up missing certain key beauty products you’ll want to own. Today, you’re going to replenish your stock.

Basic Beauty Items to Have in Your Makeup Collection

In order to create nearly any makeup look, you’re going to need certain items in your collection. Here is a checklist of the basics listed by type:

Eyes

• Black mascara
• Brown mascara
• Black eyeliner
• Brown eyeliner
• Brown-toned eye shadow palette
• Eye shadow palette in shades of your favorite colors

Lips

• Clear lip gloss
• Peach or pink tinted lip gloss
• Lip stick in a color near to your natural lip color
• Lip stick in your favorite shade

Face

• Translucent powder
• Sheer pink or peach blush
• Foundation in your shade OR tinted moisturizer in your shade
• Light lotion for the morning
• Night cream for when you sleep
• Facial sunscreen

Nails

• Clear nail polish
• Nail polish in 3 of your favorite shades
• Nail polish remover

Body

• Suncreen for the body
• Heavy lotion for patches of dry skin
• Good-smelling body wash

Although I didn’t ask you to go through your skin care items on Day 1, I added essentials here just in case you don’t have them anyway.

Assignment Day 3: Look through your makeup kit and skin-care stash and verify what you have based on the checklist above. Write down what you need from the list and head to the drugstore today. Purchase the items you’re missing to make your makeup kit complete. Drug stores are best for these essentials because you can get a lot of items for not a lot of money.

Extra Credit: Don’t stop with the list above. Make sure you have these essential beauty tools in your kit as well:

• Makeup bush kit including eye shadow, blush and face brushes
• Good quality nail clippers
• Heavy-duty metal tweezers
• Cotton balls OR squares
• Cotton swabs
