Cleaning Out Your Wardrobe

There are things in my closet that I love and can’t wait to put on. Then there are pieces of clothing, a shirt here, some pants there, that I wear for no real reason. These clothes don’t make me feel special. They don’t make me look amazing. So why do I even wear them?

Assignment Day 6: Go into your bedroom right now and open your closet doors. Get a good look at everything you have. Now, answer these questions for each piece:

Does this still fit? If NO, toss it.
Are there any holes, rips, tears or permanent stains on this? If YES, toss it.
Does this accentuate my positive attributes and diminish the negative ones? If NO, toss it.
Have I worn this item in the last year? If NO, toss it, unless…
Do I ever intend on wearing this again? If YES, keep it.
Does this item make me feel good? If YES, keep it.
Do people compliment me when I wear this? If YES, keep it.
Do I absolutely love this item? If YES, keep it.

I want you to be strict with this. Don’t keep clothes that are boring and that you feel lukewarm about. What’s the point? Keep only the clothing that makes you special, beautiful and amazing. This way, you’ll look amazing even on laundry day. And you’ll feel amazing, too.

And you’ll always be presenting your best self.

Give away the clothing you ‘tossed’ to a charity like the Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Extra Credit: Now that you’ve cleaned out your wardrobe, you may find your closet lacking some essentials. Go shopping soon to replenish your missing clothing. Just remember: Don’t buy filler clothes. Only buy clothing that you’re excited to wear and that makes you feel special and beautiful. Anything else is a waste of money.
