Beauty Review: Avon ANEW Reversalist Illuminating Eye System
It’s pretty rare that a product does what it promises, especially when it comes to skincare. As you may have seen yesterday, my review for Avon ANEW Reversalist Day Renewal Cream showed that it didn’t do everything it promised.
With those odds, things don’t look so good for Avon ANEW Reversalist Illuminating Eye System, but I’m going to give it a fair shot anyway.
The Illuminating Eye System promises to reduce wrinkles and brighten under eye circles, all while moisturizing the skin around your eyes.
How does it work?
It took me two days to figure out how to use this product. Not because it wasn’t clear, but because I didn’t think I needed to read the directions. I flipped the top cap open and thought that product was all there was to the Illuminating Eye System. A few days later, I noticed you can unscrew the top and lo and behold: a whole ‘nother eye product. Here’s the two separate sections:
The glass section has the “Eye Cream”.
Yep, it took me two days to find that cream. I’m so silly!
Anyway, you’re supposed to use a small amount of the eye cream around your eyes. Then you apply the sheer veil under your eyes, over the cream.
Does it brighten your eyes and cover dark circles?
Yes, yes, yes! I was so surprised about how much brighter and more awake I looked. The sheer veil works right away. It’s sort of like a cross between a sheer cover-up and a brightener. It’s barely noticeable as a makeup, but still does loads for brightening around your eyes.
The eye cream seemed to kick in after a week or two, so I looked brighter even before using the sheer veil. I am very satisfied with this aspect of the product.
Does it reduce wrinkles?
In my experience: no. While I only have a few wrinkles, they didn’t look any less wrinkly.
However, since the product really did bright underneath my eyes, it did make it seem like I was less wrinkly. Sort of like an optical illusion.
Does it work well as a lotion?
The ANEW Reversalist Illuminating Eye System did a good job as an eye moisturizer. The formula, while light and oil-free, was heavy enough that I needed barely any of the product. That’s a plus since the eye cream is only .5 fl. oz.
Since there isn’t a lot of lotion in this small packaging, only use this on your eyes. Don’t replace your all-over face lotion with this product.
How is it for sensitive skin?
I have sensitive skin when it comes to fragrance. Luckily, there isn’t a noticeable scent with this.
The only time the Illuminating Eye System irritated my skin was when I used it right after showering. Avoid this by waiting 10 to 15 minutes before applying it around your eyes.
The Final Verdict
I was very happy with this product. I love it, actually. It’s a good way to make you look awake and pretty without wearing makeup. It passes the brightness test with flying colors. And while it doesn’t reduce wrinkles, the fact that the brightening causes the illusion of wrinkle reduction, it’s certainly not a fail. For all of these reasons, I give the Illuminating Eye System an…
