I’m really on a fragrance roll, aren’t I?

I mean, it’s nice to smell good, right?

That’s where Calvin Klein Beauty comes in. This fragrance comes from perfume giants, Calvin Klein. They’ve been in the fragrance game for years now, so you’d think they’d have all of this down to a science.

Let’s see!

What does the bottle look like?

This is a quality bottle. The part that holds the perfume is made out of glass. At first I thought the shiny metallic was real metal, and now I’m not so sure. It feels heavy and cold, but when I tap it, it sounds like plastic. Even if they did use plastic, they still made it much higher quality than other perfume bottles do.

The stopper comes off by pulling it directly up. When on, it holds firm and doesn’t pop off easy, so you won’t have to worry about any accidents.

How does it smell?

This is the most important thing, right?

Here was my first impression:

• It smells classic, like you’d expect to find in a department store fragrance.
• It’s kind of spicy and musky, but feminine too.
• It has that distinct perfume smell that can sometimes bother my sensitive skin.

Fortunately, it didn’t hurt my skin if I used it sparingly (and I’d be using it sparingly anyway. Fragrance etiquette, and all.)

Calvin Klein Beauty has notes of neo-lily, jasmine, cedarwood, and ambrette seeds.

It’s spicy, woody, and flowery.

Basically, it smells like a classic perfume for women, and is a good choice for those who like wearing perfume and tend to wear it every day.

Did I like it? Well, it’s nice, but it’s not really my thing. A little too spicy and woody for my tastes.

BUT! Here’s something that’s important: you can tell the high quality just by smelling it. Calvin Klein Beauty doesn’t smell cheap. It smells like sophisticated.

Unfortunately, it’s also a little forgettable. I showed this and two other perfumes to my mom the other night. She could remember the smells to the other two today (Jennifer Lopez Love and Glamour and Harajuku Lovers Wicked Style) but couldn’t remember Calvin Klein Beauty at all, though she thought she probably liked it.

How does it work?

Once you pull the stopper off, you have a classic spritzer. One spritz is enough to smell good for at least 5 hours. Two spritzes may be a bit much for those sensitive to fragrance (me included). So, if you’re going to be in close proximity to a lot of people, I’d stick to one spritz.

The Final Verdict

Even though Calvin Klein Beauty isn’t the type of fragrance I would normally wear, it has high quality and a long-lasting sophisticated, spicy and feminine scent. Even the bottle is high quality.
