Things That Make Me Happy: My Reading Nook
I love reading.
Books are awesome. I get them from the library. I buy them in the store. I download them for my Sony Reader.
One problem that had been plaguing me for a while, though, is my lack of places to read. I can read in bed, but I’d prefer not to. I can read at my chair in the living area, but it doesn’t have adequate light. I like reading while in a bath tub, but my apartment only has a shower stall.
In the end, I decided to create a dedicated reading area in my apartment. I got a big arm chair (with fold-out footrest) at a garage sale and put it next to my gas fireplace.
There’s a nice, warm lamp on the mantle for good lighting, and a blanket and pillows for comfort.
And thus I’ve dubbed it the “Reading Nook.”
It’s solved all of my “where do I read?” problems. And it makes me happy.

That’s awesome! I think I need to make a reading nook as well, I’m always moving around the house trying to find a good place to read. That chair looks very, very comfy.
You totally should! I always hated having to find a place to read, and none of them were that great anyway.
I don’t have a specific reading nook but I find myself reading at the terrace recently. I get plenty of good light there without the harsh sun. Your nook is really cozy.
I wish I had a patio or porch or something, because I would totally read there during the day. But, alas, I live in a basement apartment.
What a cosy reading nook you created!
Thanks! It helps to have the pillows and blanket.
Fireplace and large comfortable chair is the perfect place for the pleasure of reading. Congratulations to you and envy you a bit))
I prefer reading in bed with my laptop. THAT makes ME happy
For some reason I’ve always disliked “real” books (made of paper).
