With new hair and makeup from VS SASSOON, the iconic brand is shifting the way it does hair by talking, working and collaborating with a range of exciting talent as part of its new Guest Artist Program.

Kicking off the program is celebrated hair and make-up artist and well-known beauty blogger Oz Beauty Expert, Bonnie Gillies. She has teamed up with one of the world’s hottest backstage fashion photographers Sonny Vandevelde to produce a series of striking photographs for VS Sassoon featuring the most talked about fresh faces of Australian fashion – up and coming models who took centre stage at Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week in April. The images … and hair … are as exciting as her subjects which include Fernanda, (pictured) ,Brooke Durrant, Bianca Hepburn and Kristy McKenzie.

“Fernanda (from Priscillas models) juggles her seriously promising modelling career with her studies – she is currently doing an interior design degree at Sydney University; yes she’s beautiful and creative!

“I went for a cool but classic look for Fernanda. She’s stunning in an old school way but also very ‘now’ looking. Her hair is long but a strong fringe frames her face and that adds to her appeal. For her make up I went for a smooth dewy finish.

Bonnie gives some inside tips on how she achieved Fernanda’s look here.

HAIR

-I started by generously applying a heat styling cream to Fernanda’s hair and blow-dried it in using the VS Sassoon Total Protection Ceramic Intense Dryer, which dries fast thanks to its professional AC Motor. It also helps to protect, smooth, fight frizz and adds shine as it’s equipped with high-density ceramic intense and ionic conditioning technologies.new-hair-makeup-from-VS-Sassoon.png

-I then sectioned off the hair and straightened each section using the VS Sassoon Total Protection Ceramic Intense Straightener which comes with ceramic intense plate technology and ceramicTEC heating technology so whilst its really protective it also gets fast, long-lasting results and leaves hair looking silky and shiny which is what I wanted for this look.

-I finished the hair by rubbing a small amount of smoothing serum into the ends.

MAKE-UP

-I was going for a natural and very radiant base on her face. To create this I applied Youngblood mineral foundation with a foundation brush, concealed around the eyes and followed this step by buffing illuminate powder liberally across the eyelids, cheeks and lips.

-To make sure I achieved a ‘barely there’ but glowy look, I didn’t use any eyeliner or eyeshadow but lightly dusted on a pale pink blush across the cheeks and eyelids.

-I finished the look with a good coat of Youngblood mineral mascara and lipstick called ‘Barely Nude’ which instead of adding extra colour just enhanced the lips natural colour- it is a very soft subtle pink.
