Nutrisystem Nation Week 44 Results and the Adventures of the Strawberry Mouse

Can you believe I’ve been on Nutrisystem for 44 weeks? And I only have 8 more weeks to go before it’s technically been a year. That’s crazy!

Before I get into my weigh-in and monthly body measurements, I thought I’d tell you a cute little story that happened to me this week.

The Adventures of the Strawberry Mouse

When I first moved into my apartment a few years back, my landlady, who lives above me, would leave out treats for me all the time. If she made a batch of fudge or cookies or homemade super-buttery Chex Mix, she’d leave a bowl of it at the top of my stairs.

It was definitely a nice arrangement.

But when I started Nutrisystem, she was such a trooper. Not only did she stop leaving all of those goodies for me (after all, I couldn’t eat them anymore anyway), she would compliment my progress whenever I saw her. So nice!

Fast forward 44 weeks, and I get a call from her.

“Hi, Trisha,” she said over the phone, “I made something that you can eat. Come on up!”

Curious, and a little nervous that I really wouldn’t be able to eat what she was offering, I exited my apartment and climbed up the stairs to her part of the house.

“Here you go!” she said, as she handed me a strawberry mouse.

“Awww! That’s so cute!” was the first thing that came bursting from my mouth. I couldn’t help it. The thing was adorable.

The strawberry mouse had a strawberry as a body, tiny pieces of chocolate as eyes and nose, almond slivers as ears and a short, thin licorice string for a tail.

I thanked her profusely and went back to my apartment to take a picture.

And, when I ate it, it was just as delicious as I’d hoped.

It’s weigh-in time!

This is what the scale said this morning:

week44I lost 0.8 pounds this week! That means I’ve lost 78.0 pounds in the last 44 weeks.

Hey, that’s better than last week!

I blame my slowed weight loss on two things:

  1. The nature of weight loss. As you get closer to goal, your weight loss slows because you have a smaller calorie deficit. It’s normal.
  2. I’ve been exercising up a storm and building muscle. I’ve been consistently exercising at least 5 days a week for the last 6 weeks. So, losing fat, gaining muscle.

Not too shabby!

What about body measurements?

I measure areas of my body every 4 weeks to see changes in my size beyond the number on the scale.

Here are the changes from week 40 to now:

  • Upper arm: No change (-4 inches total)
  • Chest: –0.5 inches (-10.75 inches total)
  • Waist: –0.25 inches (-9.25 inches total)
  • Hips: –0.5 inches (-10.25 inches total)
  • Thigh: –0.25 inches (-5.5 inches total)

That means I’ve lost 1.5 inches in the last 4 weeks, and 39.75 inches total in 44 weeks.

I’ve noticed that I’ve been looking a lot better lately. I’m just more shapely and toned. I still have 42.6 pounds to lose, though, so no sitting on my laurels!

Here is my progress from the beginning:

  • Week 1: –6.4 pounds
  • Week 2: –2.4 pounds (-8.8 total)

  3. Hi, I just love the mouse – it would be easy to make and so yummy! Cute, cute, cute!

  4. Your landlady is so supportive. The strawberry mouse is so cute! I know for sure when you’re down to a certain weight, the weight loss is going to be a lot slower but don’t let that discourage you. You are in the right track and exercising is going to help a lot. Also, the scale does not tell you about muscle gain at all but you can feel it.
