Face of the Day: The Girl Who Was On Fire
I finally got to see The Hunger Games last night. I put it off until Monday so I wouldn’t have to wait in a long line to get into the theater. (Maybe I should have waited another week, since I waited in line anyway. This movie’s a big deal!)
I was really excited to see it because I absolutely loved the book. Thanks to Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog for convincing me to read it last year.
So, of course, I had to do my makeup for the occasion. I went for a fiery look worthy of Katniss Everdeen.
Check out The Girl Who Was On Fire, my Hunger Games-inspired makeup:
I used fiery colors and dark liner. (As it always seems to happen to me, I felt like I was smiling, but it doesn’t translate in the picture.)
On my face, I’ve got Philosophy Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer as a foundation and Wet N Wild Cover All Stick under my eyes. I also used Maybelline Blush Bronzer in Sunlight on my cheeks and around my temples for a bit of color.
Ahh, the eyes. I chose red, orange and yellow eye shadows to signify fire. The red was a Cupcake Cult Eye Shadow I got at Hot Topic Years ago. I darkened it up a bit with a black eye shadow from the e.l.f. Studio Endless Eyes Pro Eyeshadow Palette. (And a white shadow from that palette in the inside corner of my eye.)
Then the orange and yellow shadows came from the Hot Topic Sour Eye Shadow Palette.
I lined my eyes with Maybelline Define-a-Line Eyeliner, on the top lid and the lower waterline. (Not sure how to line the lower waterline? Check out the How to Line Your Lower Waterline video.)
I used Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
So, what do you think? Did I do Katniss proud?
Did you see the movie?
How did you like The Hunger Games movie? Did you read the book, too?
I thought it was pretty awesome (although there was one or two things left out that should have been put in). I loved Effie Trinket’s outfits and makeup and powdered wig. I think I might have found this year’s Halloween costume:
I don’t think you can deny the awesomeness that is Effie Trinket.

I loved Effie’s looks! It’s actually one of the things I looked forward to seeing in the movie, lol.
I know! I wish they would have showed Effie a little more. I loved how all of her outfits, including hair and makeup, were color coordinated.
Looks great
. Movie was kinda ehh… got me a bit curious so I’m going to get the books soon.
