Nutrisystem Nation Week 65 Results and the Missoula 5K 2012

Saturday was the day! I ran my first 5K! (And that rhymed, so you know how serious I am.)

You get to read all about it. Plus, yet another weekly Nutrisystem weigh-in.

The Missoula 5K 2012

After months of training with the couch to 5K program, I finally put all of it to use Saturday morning.

It’s called the Missoula 5K and is the first part of the Missoula Marathon weekend. The race goes along the Clark Fork River in downtown Missoula, Montana.

I got up at 6AM, had a Nutrisystem Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with some applesauce and peanut butter, and arrived at the race at 7AM.

missoula5K2012-01After getting my race bib (that’s the thing on my tummy with the numbers), I waited by the starting line.

I wasn’t anywhere near as nervous as I thought I was going to be. The only thing that made me a little edgy was that this was something completely new to me. That always gives me a bit of the butterflies.

missoula5K2012-02Here I am in the middle of the race! I wasn’t super smiley at having a good run. Runs are hard. Instead, I’m smiling because I realized that my mom was on the bridge above, cheering for me and taking pictures. A nice surprise!

missoula5K2012-03After running for 5K (or about 3.1 miles), I finally crossed the finish line. Here I am as I run through. The finish line is the bit of blue on the right of the picture.

missoula5K2012-04And this is right after I ran through the finish. Smiling because it was finally over!

Here’s me and my finishing medal! Happy to achieve something.

missoula5K2012-06Of course, we had to go back to the finish line afterward to get me with the word “finish.” Otherwise you’d never believe it!

Here’s everything I got for doing the Missoula 5K (besides a mountain of pride).

missoula5K2012-07I got the nice shirt for showing up at the starting line. It’s a women’s medium and it fit me perfectly, which is a success right there.

I got the medal as I passed through the finish line, and, a few steps away from that, a kid handed me that paper flower. Aww!

Here are my race stats, just in case you were wondering:

  • Time: 35:32.8
  • Age group rank: 26 of 43
  • Gender rank: 144 of 283
  • Overall rank: 263 of 451
  • Pace: 11:28min/mile

Pretty middle-ground. I‘d say that’s good for a first-timer!

After the race, we went to IHOP to celebrate and I got some brunch from their low-calorie menu.

Would I do a 5K again? Right now I’d say I’m 50/50 on that. We’ll see!

Let’s weigh-in already!
