LUSH Tackles the Girls Night Out–And Smells Like Arizona in the Process

I tie certain smells to memories, places and events. Sometimes, when I’m smelling a scented candle, beauty product or whatever, I think “this smells like Arizona.”

See, my grandparents used to have a seasonal home in Scottsdale, Arizona, and I visited many times over the years. I’m not exactly sure what about that town made it smell so flowery and fruity, but it was amazing. Like fresh tree flowers, warmth and a bit of sugar. And fairies. And rainbows.

Why is this relevant? Because two of the four products in LUSH’s girls-night-out suggested products smell just like Arizona.

For an awesome girls night out, LUSH suggests:

The Scents

Lovely Jubblies and Lustre both use slightly different fragrances, yet both smell to me inexplicably like Arizona. LUSH describes Lovely Jubblies’ scent as orange blossom, rose, jasmine and ylang ylang. Lustre uses LUSH’s Lust scent, which uses jasmine and ylang ylang. See how similar they are?

Sweetie Pie smells sweet and yummy, like sour cherries and black currant. Yum!

Silky Underwear smells like warm, sugary cocoa butter. (That’s got to be one of the weirdest sentences I’ve written this week.)

I love all the scents, but I especially like how they mix and mingle when I use all the products at the same time. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been smelling myself all day when I use them. Like…on purpose.

Speaking of which…

How I Use These Together

I start with Sweetie Pie in the shower. The shower jelly, while smelling lovely, is kind of hard to use. It’s a hard gel that doesn’t melt fast enough. I ended up having to crush up bits of it that fell to the bottom of the shower.

Next, after the shower, I use the Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream. I’m sure you can figure out what to do with it by the name alone. Added bonus: using it doubles as a self breast exam!Winking smile

Once my skin is fully dry, I use the Silky Underwear Dusting Powder on my arms and the Lustre Body Powder, with its awesome golden shimmer, on my chest and collar bones.

In the end, I smelled great and felt awesome. I could totally see going on a girls night after this.

It’s your turn.

Have you tried any of these? If not, which one calls to you the most?

Also, do you have any scents that give you flashbacks to places in time? Like my Arizona scent?

Let me know in the comments!

  1. You’re really making me want to visit Arizona now. But I guess these scents will have to do for now. They sound really lovely. 🙂

  2. I LOVE the Lustre powder. A little goes a long way. It’s a little messy to apply dry, so I mix a bit in with my lotion and then put it on.

  3. Hahaha. I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life and I definitely don’t associate it with any sort of flowery scent. Maybe…. dirt? And creosote (but only when it’s rainy). Despite that, these do sound pretty tempting, especially Silky Underwear (which is also a really weird sentence to write).

  4. These products sound great and they way you wrote about them made me smile the whole time I was reading. I really like your idea with the Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream. This is a Great way to treat yourself and do your breast exam once a month. Kind of a reminder and incentive at the same time. Also, October is breast cancer awareness month . Perfect timing !
Scents, like songs do evoke memories for me. I know what you mean about Arizona. I think it’s springtime and the orange trees.

  5. hahahah hahahha “like fresh tree flowers, warmth and a bit of sugar. And fairies. And rainbows.” omg why are you so awesome? You make me want to revisit Arizona, which I remember smelling like rocks and sun! Silky Underwear sounds heavenly. Will have to check these out 🙂

  6. not bad for a 5 dollar bottle of nice scented stuff . There is nothing i love more than a splash of summer even on the cold winter night. It reminds me of the time of Pina Colada and summer romance.

  7. Well that’s not bad and only 5 dollar ?
