Pixi Beauty’s Take on Radiant Orchid Lip Gloss and Nail Polish

Ever since Pantone announced that Radiant Orchid was the color of the year for 2014, beauty brands have been announcing their take on the color for their cosmetics. Pixi recently announced their idea of Radiant Orchid lip gloss and nail polish. Let’s see what they came up with!

But first, a reminder of what Radiant Orchid should look like:

Pantone Color of the Year 2014: Radiant OrchidThat’s straight from Pantone. As you can see, it’s a purple-y color, but also with some shades of fuchsia. Some brands interpret this as a straight purple color, some as a fuchsia and some—as is the case with Pixi—as more of a pink color.

Pixi Beauty's Take On Radiant Orchid Lip Gloss and Nail PolishPixi’s take on Radiant Orchid features two products: a lip gloss and a nail polish:

What do you think? Do these represent Radiant Orchid well? Let’s take a closer look.

Pixi Beauty: Radiant Orchid Lip Gloss in "Orchid Petal"Pixi calls these “tinted brilliance balms.” I think of these more as crayon-shaped lip glosses.

Pixi Beauty: Radiant Orchid Lip Gloss in "Orchid Petal" SwatchSwatch!

I can see why they’d think this color fits Radiant Orchid. After all, this is called “Orchid Petal.” Orchids come in all sorts of colors. However, I think this needs a bit more purple to fit with what Pantone had in mind.

Still, it’s a very pretty color.

Pixi's Take on Radiant Orchid: Nail Polish in Paradise PinkHot pink nail polish! I don’t know if you can tell from the picture, but this Paradise Pink nail polish was super neon. They could light my way in the dark just like Rudolph’s bright red nose.

Again, is this Radiant Orchid? I think it’s a bit too pink. Very Violet from their nail polish line is a lot more like Radiant Orchid than this one.

What do you think of Pixi’s take on Radiant Orchid? Let’s chat about it in the comments!

  1. I like that pink, but it’s certainly not Radiant Orchid. I hate when the companies use the whole Pantone thing how every they want. I think the whole point is to stay true to the shade. Keep em coming!

  2. wow trisha 🙂 love that pink ! so pretty ! new to your blog, love it !

  3. That’s too pink to be Radiant Orchid, I agree with you. Butu it’s still a very pretty colour!
