FOTD: Tropical Makeup Look and Half-Marathon Training Update

If I looked out my window right this second I would see…snow! Still!

Sure, most of the recent from-a-blizzard snow has melted away, but there are still huge mounds left over. Winter really doesn’t want to relax its grip, does it?

Well, I’m taking the initiative to start the warmer seasons a little early. How? With a tropical makeup look!

Tropical Makeup Look FOTDThis reminds me of relaxing on a white sand beach. I wish I was there right now!

Here’s what I used on my face:

This look is all about the eyes, though. That’s what makes it a tropical makeup look.

Tropical Makeup Look, Tropical Eye ShadowFor the eyes, I used the NYX Eyeshadow Base in White so that the colors would pop. All eye shadow colors are from the Sigma Crème de Couture Eye Shadow Palette. I used them in this order:

  • Meyer Lemon at the inside corner of the eye and on the brow bone under the arch
  • Apricot Flower above the crease, blended up toward the brow bone
  • Ginger Pumpkin in the crease and blended upward
  • Crème de Menthe in the middle of the lid for a pop of turquoise
  • Café au Lait at the outer corner for some darkness and dimension

I know this sounds complicated, but it was actually pretty darn easy. That probably doesn’t mean a lot coming from me, though. Still, I have faith that you can do it, too.

I finished the tropical makeup look with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Binge.

Two kinds of mascara! On the top lashes, I used Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara from the February Beauty Box 5. On the bottom lashes, I used the bright green butter LONDON WINK Colour Mascara in Jaded Jack.

What do you think of my tropical makeup look? Does it remind you of the beach?

I’ve started half-marathon training!

A while back, I mentioned that I signed up for the Missoula Half-Marathon. Well, that race is mid-July and I have 18 weeks to train. I started my official training Sunday morning (waaay earlier than I would have liked). It was great meeting fellow runners.

Honestly, this is super exciting. The training coach was motivating and I’m so ready to start running a ton of miles. Hopefully I’m still this excited at week 18!
