Beauty Box 5 Review: March 2014

You guys know the drill! We’ve got another Beauty Box 5 to delve into: this time for the month of March, 2014.

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription service. You pay $12 a month (total) and you get a box of 5 full or sample beauty products. Each month is different and you (usually) never know what you’re going to get.

First, the unboxing video!

Beauty Box 5 Unboxing: March 2014

My hair is a little unfortunate in that video. I had no idea that the BB5 was coming that day. That’s my excuse!

Alright, let’s have a look at everything that came in the Beauty Box 5 March 2014 box.

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: The BoxIn March’s box, I got:

This month, we got three full-sized and two sample-sized products. Total, the box was worth about $30!

Enough money talk—let’s check out each product.

Jane’s Pick All Natural Soap

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Jane's Pick All Natural SoapI love artisan soap. You made an all-natural soap and added some essential oils? Then I love you. And that’s what Jane’s Pick has going on for it.

I never figured out what the scent was for the sample I got, but, either way I’m a fan. The sample lasted through about four showers (I used it as a body soap).

Tree Hut Coconut Lime Moisturizing Hand Cream

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Tree Hut Coconut Lime Hand CreamIn order to get my stamp of approval, a lotion or hand cream needs to pass the smell test. As you saw from the unboxing video, the Tree Hut hand cream definitely passed.

This stuff smells delicious. Seriously, guys. If this was a dessert, I’d eat it. And, most importantly, it’s a really good lotion. Coming in a 3 ounce bottle, you can even bring it on a plane. Travel lotion!

Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup Base

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup BaseAs I suspected in the video, this makeup base only comes in one color: beige.

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup BaseThe card that came with the Beauty Box 5 March 2014 box says that you can use this makeup base as a concealer, illuminator and eye shadow primer. I thought it was a little too greasy to work well as a primer, but it was awesome as a concealer. I like to use it under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose.

Design Essentials Natural Curl Enhancing Mousse

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Design Essentials Natural Curl Enhancing MousseBB5 knows I have curly hair, so they sent me this curl enhancing mousse.

Just like the other things in this box, the mousse passed the smell test with flying colors. It smells like melons and it’s absolutely lovely. In fact, I think it’s the best-smelling thing in this box.

Most importantly, though, it makes my hair look awesome. I noticed that my curls were a lot less frizzy when I used this in my damp hair after getting out of the shower.

In the video, it didn’t come out of the container as a mousse. Don’t worry—once this stuff warmed up to room temperature, it totally foamed like it should.

Swissco Dual-Sided Facial Pad

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Swissco Dual-Sided Facial PadA scrubber for your face!

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Swissco Dual-Sided Facial PadOn one side, you get a loofah. In the unboxing video, I was concerned that a loofah might be too much for your face. Well, in cursory research, it looks like there isn’t anyone out there saying not to do it, so…

Beauty Box 5 March 2014: Swissco Dual-Sided Facial PadOn the other side, you get a soft terry cloth finish. Don’t worry about the strap in the way. You can stretch that around to the other side.

I used this while in the shower and it actually did a good job exfoliating my face. Despite finding no warnings online, I was still extra gentle on my face with the loofah side.

In the end, my face was nice and soft, and that’s all I ask.

What do you think of the Beauty Box 5 March 2014?

Which product would you have been most excited to find in your box?

I think my favorite this month was the curl enhancing mousse, both because it smelled great and it took care of my tricky frizz.

Let’s chat about it in the comments!
