Quick! Super Beauty Deals on Stila Cosmetics at BeautyCrunch

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I was just strolling along the internet, minding my own business as usual, when I came across a really big beauty deal going on at Beauty Crunch on all of their Stila Cosmetics stuff.

I just about freaked out when I saw the deals.  I mean, $9.50 for a contouring trio?  And free shipping on orders over $50 with a coupon code (BEAUTY)?  Awesome!

And then I just about cried, because I can’t even afford that. Times are tough over in the Makeup Files household, ladies.

That doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage, though.  Let me live vicariously through you, in all of your makeup-buying splendor.

The website says that the big sale is from ‘now until Monday, Dec. 22nd.’  So, you better hurry up.

That’s all I’m saying.

Why it’s great: “This is my No. 1 favorite eyeliner. It’s not too dark but it’s dark enough to make my eyes look sexy. [Espresso is] a rich brown [that's] good for fair-skinned girls. It stays on all day so you don’t have to worry.”

No. 17: Rimmel London Professional Liquid Eye Liner, $5.99

TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 8.3*

Why it’s great: “First the price: dirt cheap, relatively speaking. I like the super-slim application brush; it gives me more control, and I like the consistency, which also makes application easier. After MUCH practice, I’ve gotten pretty adept at applying this.”

No. 16: Almay Intense I-Color Play Up Liquid Eyeliner, $7.49

TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 8.5*

Why it’s great: “I’ve tried the amethyst and the topaz. Both are easy and apply a beautifully precise line if you keep a few simple steps in mind: Line in short strokes, and wait a minute or so before blending or applying mascara. [It's] a nice addition to an eye wardrobe!”

How to Save Money on Makeup Brushes at the Craft Store

Monday, September 8th, 2008

I love craft stores.  They always give me such creative inspiration.  It’s common for me to come out with all sorts of aspirations to make paintings or cross-stitch something onto something else.

Last time I went to the craft store, I had a very exciting epiphany:

You can buy paint brushes to replace makeup brushes at a MUCH smaller price than regular makeup brushes.

That’s right, I bought paint brushes to use on my face.

5 Ways to Get Inexpensive Makeup

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Money on GreenWhen you really like makeup and beauty products, you can end up spending hundreds of dollars a year (or maybe even a month!) on these products. After all, brands like MAC and NARS aren’t cheap.

There are ways that you can get great makeup for a lot less money. Here’s some of the ways I’ve done it:

  1. Go to the drug store! You’ll find plenty of inexpensive makeup there. Try: Cover Girl, Prestige, Loreal, Revlon, and anything else you can find. These stores are also great for skin care and other beauty products. Some brands, like Max Factor, can only be found in some department stores, like Target and Walmart.
  2. Hit other stores for clearance. You’d be amazed at what stores sell makeup. Try Claire’s for inexpensive makeup. Look out for their promotions. They often have “buy one, get one free” or “buy one, get one half off” on their makeup line. You can save a lot of money when you buy Hot Topic clearance makeup. I’ve just recently bought eye primer and eyeliner in their clearance for $1 each.
